Football icon Neville Southall joins Omega as Patron

Omega is delighted to announce the addition of Welsh former international footballer Neville Southall MBE as a new Patron of the charity.

The retired goalkeeping legend is now a huge advocate for enhancing and promoting mental health awareness and support. His book Mind Games explores and reflects upon social issues and tackles the ‘final taboo’ of mental health.

He is also a social justice campaigner through his Twitter/X profile; using his extensive social media following to champion issues surrounding mental health and politics.

Neville has a connection to Shropshire too, having – albeit briefly – signed to local football team Shrewsbury Town FC.

He recognises the growing problem with social isolation and acute loneliness amongst UK adults and wants to help raise awareness of Omega and its life changing work during #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and beyond.

Omega CEO Pete Brophy said “I warmly welcome Neville and thank him for his interest, support and commitment to what we are trying to achieve”.
