Omega Celebrates Volunteers of the Year for Chatterbox and Letterbox Services

Omega is proud to announce its inaugural Volunteers of the Year for both its Chatterbox and Letterbox programs. The award recognizes two exceptional individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to helping those experiencing social isolation.

The Chatterbox Volunteer of the Year is Evie Pollard (pictured, left), a student from Warwick University who joined Omega on an intern programme. Evie has been an exemplary telephone befriender, providing consistent support to clients, while also taking on the responsibility of conducting Omega’s annual befriender feedback survey. Liz Evans, Chatterbox Team Leader, commended Evie for her conscientious approach, reliability, and high-quality work. “Evie has been an invaluable part of our team, and we are deeply grateful for her contributions to our clients and our feedback processes,” said Liz.

The Letterbox Volunteer of the Year is Jasmine Saunders-Berridge (pictured, right), an Open University student, who has shown exceptional dedication to the service by consistently writing to her clients and producing a local signposting list for the Yardley area of Birmingham. Michelle Willis, Letterbox Team Leader, praised Jasmine’s efforts, saying, “Her communication skills and commitment to writing to her client every month without fail have made her an outstanding volunteer.”

Both winners received a £50 gift voucher courtesy of sponsor EDSB Compliance Solutions.

Both Chatterbox and Letterbox rely heavily on volunteers to provide critical support to individuals aged 18 and over who experience loneliness and isolation. Volunteers are carefully matched with clients to ensure a meaningful connection. All Chatterbox volunteers are DBS checked, while all Letterbox correspondence is reviewed for safeguarding purposes.

Omega is currently welcoming new volunteers to join its team. If you’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of socially isolated individuals, sign up today to become a volunteer befriender for either Chatterbox, Letterbox, or both. To apply, click here.
