Could you become an Omega Trustee?

Omega is looking for two new Trustees to join us in our mission of ending loneliness and social isolation.

Omega was founded to support chronically lonely people who struggle to access support groups or face to face befriending.
We are the only charity to offer a range of remote befriending services to adults of all ages throughout the UK. We help clients stay connected and aim to increase wellbeing. Our flagship, safeguarded programmes are Chatterbox telephone befriending and Letterbox penpal befriending.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and guidance of a great board of trustees. The board is a small, well-established team with a range of professional expertise represented who support a very capable staff team.

To complement the existing board, we’re now looking for two new trustees: Firstly, we’re looking for an individual with professional or voluntary experience of working with adults affected by social isolation, mental health concerns or related issues. Secondly, we’re looking for someone with professional or voluntary experience of fundraising in the VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) sector.

Trustees will be expected to attend the quarterly Board Meeting which takes place in Shrewsbury, usually during a weekday morning. Attendance in person is preferred although video links can be arranged. Trustees are also encouraged and welcomed to engage further with the charity’s work as their time permits. This could include occasional assistance with tasks such as policy review, volunteer recruitment, active support for fundraising initiatives or supporting social events in Shrewsbury.
