Chatterbox Action Against Loneliness
Friendly telephone chat
Free telephone befriending for older people who enjoy a chat. We find out your interests and carefully match you to one of our DBS-checked and trained volunteers. Your befriender will call once a week at a time that suits you both for a friendly chat.
Our Chatterbox clients tell us the calls are often the highlight of their week. Here’s what three Chatterbox clients say:
"My befriender puts me at ease when I have had a really bad week with my depression and other health problems I have. It seems to lift me into a more positive mood… Just being able to talk with someone has really helped me."
"Since being able to talk to someone, it has really helped me. It’s something to look forward to in a week when I normally speak to no one."
"Having calls from someone does cheer me up an awful lot, and talking to you today has been a real delight. You have been great company."
How to get in touch
If you are interested in Chatterbox or would like to volunteer as a telephone befriender please get in touch.
The pandemic has had a severe impact on our vulnerable client group resulting in an almost tripling of Chatterbox referred clients. We are working hard to recruit and train more befrienders to help us deal with this demand and the expected growth over the next year.
