Omega was delighted to be one of two local charities chosen for the support of the former Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor David Vasmer, during his Mayoral year 2024/25.
Thanks to the generosity of local residents and the success of events held throughout the year – including an afternoon tea, a lively curry evening at the award-winning Lea Cross Tandoori, and a magical performance by Shropshire Youth Theatre in the stunning Dingle – a fantastic £3,500 was raised and shared equally between Omega and MHS Shropshire.
Linton Waters, Chair of Trustees received the cheque from Councillor David Vasmer earlier this month on behalf of Omega. He said “It’s been a privilege to work with Cllr Vasmer in promoting our important work… These funds will make a real difference.”
Lucy Scott, Chief Executive Officer of Omega added: “A big thank you on behalf of the whole Omega team to Cllr Vasmer for his support, and to everyone who attended events and donated to the Mayor’s Charity Fund. We’ve loved being part of local events over the last year, and we are extremely grateful for the donation to our important work.”
The funds will go towards helping Omega deliver ongoing support to people experiencing profound loneliness and social isolation.
