Howard Rutherford

Trustee

Howard was educated at Uppingham School and studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital after declining the offer of an industrial scholarship with Vickers Armstrong. In addition to extensive experience within the NHS, he launched a cosmetic implant business with his wife in Birmingham and built an £8m private hospital in Darlington. He also set up, and for several years headed, a nursing agency and a first aid training company. Combining his lifelong aviation hobby and his longstanding professional experience of acute trauma, Howard served the Great North Air Ambulance Service as a trustee.
