End of Life Care in a Compassionate Community

"Most dying today is not well managed. Instead, we are witnessing a rise in shameful forms of dying. It is not cancer, heart disease or medical science that present modern dying with its greatest moral tests, but rather poverty, ageing and social exclusion."

         - Allan Kellehear, Professor of Sociology, University of Bath

Not only do we want to raise awareness about a wide arrange of end of life issues, we want to influence the agenda. From the outset going it alone was not an option. As an emerging charity with a small core team underpinned by a formidable network of advisers we see the most effective way of achieving this is to work collaboratively to fill gaps by developing and delivering much needed resources, information and support.

If you share our commitment to supporting people in need of care as they approach the end of their lives please get in touch. We are actively seeking proposals, advice, potential delivery partners to develop projects and resources falling within the following themes:

  • Bereavement support
  • Spirituality
  • Supporting carers
  • Community outreach and engagement

Our activity in this area will comprise the following:

  • Strategic leadership
  • Networking
  • Awareness-raising
  • Fundraising including public fundraising
  • Events
  • Volunteer and carer recruitment
  • Facilitation
  • Training
  • Dispute resolution and informal mediation
  • Information gathering
  • Toolkit and resource development

Individuals and organisations wishing to get involved email info@omega.uk.net or call 0845 259 3163 (local rate).
