Caring with Confidence
Practical help and support for carers just when you need it most...
Caring with Confidence is a knowledge and skills based programme which aims to help carers make a positive difference to their life and that of the person they care for. Carers can mix and match how they further develop their knowledge and skills - by taking part in one or more free, local group sessions, by using self-study workbooks or by accessing online sessions.
Caring with Confidence is part of the Government's 'New Deal for Carers' - an initiative aimed at improving support for carers. It enhances the training already available and helps to provide learning opportunities where there is currently little available. It is not designed to replace existing provision.
Caring with Confidence sessions will:
- help you build on your strengths as a carer
- give you the opportunity to share experiences and learn from others in similar situations
- give you useful information, ideas and tips about looking after someone
- help you decide what you might like to change about your caring role
- inform you on your rights as a carer and the services available to you
Sessions designed for general carers are covered on this page but if you care for someone nearing the end of life, click here.
The Sessions: (Sessions last 3 hours. Free refreshments will be available at all sessions)

Focus groups
To help Omega deliver what carers want in each area, we are looking to establish informal carers' focus groups. The feedback we gather from these groups will play an important role in shaping the programme we deliver in each area. Focus group involvement will not entail a heavy workload. If you are interested in taking part, please get in touch.
